The common response to disaster usually comes in the form of food, water, clothing, blankets and medicines which are obviously critical components to disaster recover. ShelterBox chooses to find a gap that isnít being filled. In Houston that gap was to provide indoor tents to the George R Brown shelter for nursing mothers to have privacy when breast feeding. The indoor tents are allowing victims with communal diseases and medical issues to speak privately about their needs. We also provided solar powered lights to be distributed to homes that continue to be without power. I personally saw how hard Shelter Boxís president and response team members have been working these past three days and continue to work not only in Houston but with our neighbors in Beaumont and Port Aurther. Charity Navigator recommended ShelterBox as one of just 25 Four-Star Charities nation-wide. Last year 93 cents out of every dollar went to beneficiary families.
